ANDREW

Andrew found his French home in a town called Belcaire, in the Aude region, not far from Andorra. The house was sold with an adjacent garage with a flat roof.

Our brief was to create a over-structure extension on top of the existing garage to create a vast living space with a direct access from the main house. A deep understanding of the existing structure was necessary to propose a design which sits on top of the garage with the less structural modifications possible.

The project is situated in the conservation area of the old town of Belcaire therefore our design takes in consideration the architectural style of the area and the recommendation of the Conservation Architect (Architecte des Bâtiments de France also called ABF). The typology and finish of the pitched roof, the colour the facade render but also the size and style of the windows and wooden shutters.
